Commentary: The New Obese Communism

A Chinese official reported today that over 60 million Chinese people, roughly the entire population of France, are obese. This while over 24 million Chinese remain in abject poverty and suffer from malnutrition. Slightly different statistics than those of the Soviet Union, where Lenin, Stalin and friends starved millions to death deliberately and kept the entire country on the brink of starvation. Not that China is doing all that better, but I imagine there weren't many obese Russians in the heyday of communism there. Seems that if you tweak communism enough people don't notice as much.
