State Del. Hargrove "Pulls a Macaca"

The Virginia Legislature has been making news this week over a series of insensitive comments by one of its members. Hanover Delegate Frank Hargrove's comments began during discussions on Martin Luther King Jr. day over a proposed state apology to African-Americans for slavery. It was then that the delegate suggested that African-Americans "get over slavery." Further complicating matters yesterday, Delegate Hargrove said to a Charlottesville paper that he wondered whether the House would next "force the Jews to apologize for killing Christ?" Needless to say, the Delegate seated next to Rep. Hargrove, Alexandria's Delegate David Englin, who is Jewish, took offense. You can read the Times Dispatch coverage here.
